Use the IDO Interactive Map to identify the zone districts surrounding your property and whether they contain a low-density residential use.

  • Click on the yellow button to the left of the IDO Interactive document to open the map in a pop-up window or click the link above to open the map in its own window.
  • Enter your address in the search bar at the top of the map to zoom to your property.
  • Click on button #1 at the bottom of the map to see base layer information.
  • Check the box next to "IDO Zoning" if it's not already checked. Zoom in or out to see boundaries better. Note whether any property adjacent to yours (meaning either sharing a property line with your property or across a street, alley, or easement from your property) is R-A, R-1, R-MC, or R-T.
  • Uncheck the box next to "IDO Zoning" to turn the layer off.
  • Check the box next to "Land Use" to turn the layer on.
  • To see the legend of colors, click the grey triangle to the left of the "Land Use" layer.
  • Note whether the property is indicated as single family.
  • Use Google Street View or a site visit to determine whether there is still at least 1 dwelling unit on any adjacent property with R-A, R-1, R-MC, or R-T zoning.
